KiKi's Legacy Parrot Foundation
Where Each Parrot Finds a Loving Home

About KiKi's Legacy
KiKi’s Legacy Parrot Foundation is a loving parrot rescue dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming large species companion parrots. As a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation (EIN #: 46-2681880), our mission is to help each parrot thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
When a parrot arrives at KiKi’s Legacy, it’s more than just a physical transformation. At KiKi’s Legacy, we take the time to connect, nurture, and celebrate the incredible spirits of every bird in our care. Some come to us shy or unsure, and through gentle care and attention, they rediscover trust, curiosity, and joy.
We understand that saying goodbye to a beloved family parrot is never easy. We accept large parrots whose families need to surrender them, always honoring that their decision is deeply emotional. We reassure families that by entrusting their beloved parrot to Kiki’s Legacy they are giving a gift: the chance for their bird to continue life with a new, loving home.
Our mission is simple: to help each parrot grow and find courage as they prepare for their next family. Our parrots participate in a carefully guided foster-to-adopt program. We believe in helping each bird become “the best parrot they can be,” and we cherish every moment of their journey with us.
Take a look at our parrot photos. They are vibrant, engaged, and kind. Prepare to share the magical experience of Kiki’s Legacy firsthand.

Who was KiKi?
KiKi’s Legacy is named after a beloved Umbrella Cockatoo named “KiKi.” He shared many joyful years with our founder, Teri Rand, and left an unforgettable mark on her heart and soul.
"There is a moment when a parrot comes into your life, steals your heart, and you just know you’ll share a life’s journey together."
KiKi was that parrot. He made Teri laugh, brought endless joy, and shared countless adventures. Together, they visited veterinary training programs and assisted living centers in the Hickory community. KiKi was always the star, charming every audience and advocating for rescued parrots. Teri often jokes that she was just his chauffeur.
Little did she know, KiKi was teaching her a greater lesson. He gave her the courage to make a promise: continue helping vulnerable parrots find loving families and to keep spreading smiles one road trip at a time.
KiKi’s spirit lives on in every bird at our foundation, and his legacy is the heart of everything we do.
